Selon Didier Anzieu, psychologue, cette croyance populaire aurait été renforcée par les théologiens et leur interprétation d’un passage des Évangiles. Dans son livre Le moi peau (Éd. Dunot), l’auteur révèle en effet une perception erronée d’un épisode du Nouveau Testament qui met en scène Jésus et une prostituée. La pécheresse se présente à un banquet pour remercier Jésus de 1’avoir guérie de la lèpre. Elle couvre alors les pieds du Messie de larmes et de baisers sous les yeux ébahis d’une assemblée scandalisée. Imaginez l’étonnement général, le fils de Dieu se laisse toucher par une fille de mauvaise vie. Le principal concerné rétorque que cette humble pécheresse l’honore en lui démontrant autant d’amour. Cette raison, selon lui, est suffisante pour inciter au pardon des péchés, même les plus graves. Réaction des convives : serait-il tombé dans le piège de la séduction sexuelle tendu par cette femme ?

En fait, ce passage n’est pas le seul à semer le doute. Anzieu poursuit son analyse en examinant deux épisodes où deux femmes bénéficient de la guérison par le toucher. La première, atteinte de possession, est libérée de ses démons par imposition des mains du Sauveur. (Tiens, le toucher révélerait donc la présence de démons intérieurs ?) Et la deuxième, en l’honneur de la résurrection de son frère, oint les pieds et les cheveux du Messie d’un parfum coûteux et en imprègne son propre corps pour préparer sa résurrection (pratique qualifiée d’autoérotique). L’interdit du toucher serait-il donc plus spécifique aux civilisations chrétiennes qu’aux autres ? Ces trois intervenantes bibliques portaient un nom qui ressemble à Marie-Madeleine. De là à les confondre toutes les trois, il n’y a qu’un pas, et c’est comme ça, en mélangeant les cartes sans discernement, qu’on en arrive à les assimiler à la prostituée. D’où la propagation fulgurante d’une grossière erreur : le toucher a nécessairement une connotation sexuelle. C’est une explication.

La psychanalyse, inspirée de ce modèle judéo-chrétien, a vite pris le relais. Scruté par Freud, l’interdit œdipien met en garde contre la démesure de l’excitation (la nôtre et celle des autres) et sa conséquence, à savoir le déferlement de la pulsion. On sait combien les travaux de Freud ont contribué au progrès des sciences humaines… Mais ils ne l’ont cependant pas empêché d’être lui-même un fervent misogyne.
